Joãowow Lucas is always looking for more wow! Born to a single mother and raised in a trailer park, Joãowow achieved escape velocity through art and writing. As an immigrant in Lisbon, Joãowow creates photopoetry: a hybrid art form where street photography prompts poetry. These short and spontaneous poems – typed on half-sheets of old paper on an old typewriter – explore belonging and alienation, home and the road, acceptance and rejection, and destinations between.
