crackhead girlfriends make for nervous Dobermans
Karl Koweski

she tried to kill herself

with doggie tranquilizers.

a kitchen cabinet

stocked with lethal

cleaning concoctions

and she takes her chances

with doggie tranquilizers.

in her suicide note

perched on the bureau,

no less than three times,

the purple ink glistening

like saliva on the

pink, scented paper.

she woke up, grinning

weakly, with a mild

headache and dry mouth.

first thing I wanted to know,

Karl Koweski has had several chapbooks of poetry published and his first full length collection "Under Normal Conditions" will soon be published by Roadside Press. Karl took a little bit of a sabbatical for six years, doing everything except writing. He’s not sure why, not sure why he’s come back to writing, but he’s glad he did.
