HOLDING A 1966 ALBUM COVER
Kenneth Pobo
Who left Barefootin’
by T.V. & The Tribesmen
in Maybelle’s Laundromat,
on top of Good Housekeeping?
The album has escaped its cover,
music floating over Maybelle’s roof,
maybe caught on some clothesline.
Someone spilled a small puddle
of grape jelly under
a silhouetted go go dancer.
I don’t go go much now except
to the big front loader where
my quilt bathes in Tide.
What happened to T.V.?
They may be dead by now.
Death is always
on the go go.
My dryer has stopped. I open it
and pull out almost-hot clothes.
Dusk stares through the window,
her coral hat ready
to fall off her head.
